What a Content Creation Strategist Does

Larger-Scale Clients

For my larger-scale clients, they have a strategy and I function as a freelance writer that produces content in their brand voice to expand on their existing marketing strategy. I work remotely with their team to produce written content for their website, sales pages, whitepapers, downloadables, PR, blog, social media, and more.

Individuals and Small Businesses

For my smaller clients—who don’t have an in-house marketing team—I help them strategize. Together we come up with an overall strategy that includes elements such as:

  • Developing their brand voice
  • Establishing goals and milestones
  • Ensure their website contains high-converting copy, alongside web design,  graphic visuals and video
  • Deciding what type of content-marketing strategy we will be implementing, ranging from:
⁃ SEO strategy, which may work for a small local business in a specific niche/vertical where there isn’t global content to compete with
⁃ Public relations/brand journalism, focusing on writing articles on websites within their niche/verticals, LinkedIn, or whatever applies best in their niche
    ⁃ Social Media Marketing
    ⁃ Social Media Advertising
  • We set a timeframe for implementation and time to measure the results of the strategy, then return again in the near future to fine-tune the metrics (SEO rank, cost per click, cost per result, cost per lead, lead conversion percentages, etc.)

The strategy side of content creation in the small business space can be complex. Each company has specific budgets and goals, and we need to sit down (virtually) to examine which strategies will be most effective for their specific business. For example, a company with services can be different than one with products. Everything comes into play, like is it a local business or nationwide.

End Goals

The goal at the end is to have a successful strategy that creates a client-acquisition cost for the business. Once that is established you have the option to set the campaign budget based on how many new clients you can take on, and afford.

I’d love to learn more about your specific business—so that I can propose strategies that I believe will work based on my experiences.
